Alliteration is the repetition of the same consonant sound at the beginning of words in a phrase or sentence. For eg.:
The windy woods whispered weird wonders.
Ten tiny turtles tumbled toward the tide.
The ten terrorists tried to topple the tall tower.
Onomatopoeia refers to words that imitate sounds. Here are some examples categorized by type:
Meow – A cat's sound
Woof – A dog's bark
Moo – A cow's sound
Chirp – A bird's call
Achoo – The sound of a sneeze
Giggle – A light laugh
Gulp – Swallowing noisily
Splat – Something wet hitting a surface
Bang – A loud explosion or gunshot
Crash – Something breaking or colliding
Thud – A heavy object falling
Clang – Metal hitting metal
Splash – Something hitting water
Drip – A small drop of water falling
Gurgle – Water flowing through a narrow space
Whoosh – A strong rush of water or wind
Click – Pressing a button or a small object tapping
Buzz – The sound of a bee or an electric device
Beep – A short, high-pitched electronic sound
Tick-tock – A clock's sound
There are typically 8 main categories, ordered as follows:
Opinion (beautiful, ugly, nice, boring)
Size (big, small, tall, tiny)
Age (old, young, new, ancient)
Shape (round, square, triangular)
Color (red, blue, green, dark)
Origin (French, Japanese, American)
Material (wooden, metal, cotton)
Purpose (running shoes, cooking pot, sleeping bag)
For eg. A charming small old triangular brown Scandinavian wooden hunting cottage.
